To celebrate the first ever Resident Evil game on the Xbox 360, Microsoft has unveiled an Xbox 360 Resident Evil Limited Edition Console Bundle. This bundle will be available the same day Resident Evil 5 ships to store shelves, Friday, March 13th.

Essentially an Xbox 360 Elite made over in red, the RE Limited Edition Console will be an even greater value for those looking to purchase a console as it will come with a copy of Resident Evil 5, matching limited edition red Wireless Controller, black Xbox 360 Headset, 120 GB Hard Drive and an exclusive premium Resident Evil 5 theme (downloadable via Xbox LIVE). Supplies are said to be “very limited”, so fans of the Resident Evil series might want to pre-order this bad boy ASAP.

So, what do you think RE fans? Is this worth the purchase or will you just buy the game?

VITALS: Resident Evil 5

1 Comment 14 December 2008 | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Resident Evil (known as Biohazard in Japan) made its debut on the Sony Playstation in 1996, scaring players around the world with a new twist on survival horror. This formula has captured the screams of millions throughout the years. With die hard fans on an abundance of consoles, it’s easy to see Capcom has made a long term winner. But with the ever growing anticipation and the demand for perfection from fans, will they be able to stay true to that formula with Resident Evil 5?

The zombie threat hasn’t ended yet. Even though it seemed the Umbrella Corporation’s plans had been foiled, it appears they are out to conquer the entire globe. Our hero, Chris Redfield, returns to the fight against Umbrella under The Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance (BSAA). The BSAA has sent Chris to investigate an incident in Africa, where people and animals are transforming into mindless maddened creatures.

Resident Evil 5 will utilize co-op gameplay as you’ll be able to assume control of either Chris or series newcomer Sheva Alomar. Sheva is an agent with the BSAA West African Branch. She was assigned to the current mission to assist Chris, who is unfamiliar with the area. With plenty of experience and her ability to utilize firearms, she should be right on par with Chris. The campaign will be playable in online co-op, which should help relieve some of the tension as players fight their way through the zombie horde.

Enemies in Resident Evil 5 are not your typical zombies. They have speed and intelligence that make them just as dangerous alone as in a group. Ranging from small pack dogs and average villagers to booming axe swingers and chainsaw wielding maniacs. Capcom promises to make you fear the daylight in Africa just as much as you have the shadows in previous installments. While you shouldn’t expect to go through Africa guns blazing, you shouldn’t feel unprotected or useless either. Chris and Sheva will have quite the arsenal at hand. Weapons will include knives, pistols, machine guns, sniper rifles and much more. There will be plenty of ways to terminate your adversaries.

With the recent spike in online co-op support from developers, I’m pleased to see that Capcom has jumped on board. The co-op campaign should help extend the life of Resident Evil 5. This may also turn new fans on to the series who were otherwise uninterested in running through a house of horrors all by themselves.

Resident Evil 5 will definitely bring a new sense of fear to consoles that we’ve never experienced. From the realism that we’ve seen thus far, being so far away from launch, Resident Evil 5 will undoubtedly feel like you’re right in the middle of an actual zombie horde. Making this fight for your life more realistic than ever before and pushing past the “comfort zone” for some.

We simply can not wait! In the mean time, we have an abundance of screen shots that we’d like to share with you. Better get out the big boy pampers, ’cause some of these screenies are intense. Hope you enjoy!
