I suppose everyone’s wondering why I’ve gathered you all here today.
Well, the simple fact is that things change. The lovely and talented people who contribute regularly to GamesAreEvil sometimes find that some of their other talents are required elsewhere, and this often inhibits them from their true passions of writing about games here. That being said, we need some help! Two columns that have been running fairly regularly here are drying out due to the talent moving on, so we’re looking for a couple more writers to come aboard.
That being said, I am going to quote directly the most recent help-wanted post here, since it could practically be our disclaimed:
Games Are Evil is, as you may know, put together on the free time of everyone who contributes, and I’m enormously grateful to everyone who gives up their time to help out. The fact the entire site is run on a voluntary basis, however, including my own contributions and management, means that I can’t pay anyone for their work. I know it’s a contentious point in the overcrowded games website market, but there it is; I like to think we’re doing something a little bit different here, but that also means we have a relatively small audience and thus little opportunity to actually make money at the moment. – Pete Davison
That was all true.
So once again, I would like to offer the lovely readers of GamesAreEvil the opportunity to become a regular contributor here. This has happened once before, and it will go just about the same. Please contact myself at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested. In this note, please include the following:
– a column proposal: simply a short summary of what you feel will be a topic to write about on a weekly or bi-weekly basis that fits in with the theme here at GamesAreEvil.
– how often you’d like to write this column
– an example of said column, preferably running somewhere in the 800-1000 word range (if you poke around some of the columns on the site, you’ll get a good idea as to what a good length is)
Specifically, I’d like someone to take over the GamersOnTheGo column which was run on a bi-weekly basis and the Tactical Tuesday column, which was a weekly affair. Barring interest in these columns, I would be happy to receive original submissions. Take a look at the other columns that run regularly here, like READ.ME or Board Stiff or any of the others and you’ll get a feel for what we’re all about.
I look forward to hearing from you!
