Gosh. Now here’s something I never knew existed. The S.S.T. Band, also known as the Sega Sound Team band between 1988 and 1989 and the Super Sonic Team band from 1989 to 1993, was Sega’s official band. Sega’s official band. How many companies have their own official band nowadays?
The S.S.T Band were largely responsible for some impressive rock versions of Sega game soundtracks intended for release on collection albums and playing live, as seen here. The band’s lineup changed several times over the years, and members included Takenobu Mitsuyoshi, who later went on to handle the soundtracks to Virtua Fighter, Daytona USA and Shenmue, and Kimitaka Matsumae, who worked on Sega Rally and Virtua Fighter 3’s scores.
