I must confess, I know very little about the game from which this music hails, but Alex makes passing mention of it in today’s Tactical Tuesday column, which is coming up shortly. To Wikipedia! (Hey, at least I’m honest when I don’t know stuff.)
Okay, apparently Demigod s a MOBA game released by Stardock and Gas Powered Games back in 2009, inspired, as all good MOBAs are, by the Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients. Unlike today’s popular free-to-play MOBA titles such as League of Legends and Dota 2, Demigod saw a full retail release. This actually worked against it somewhat, however, as the version that was available in shops launched with a significant number of issues and missing features, some of which were subsequently patched after press reviews hit. Said reviews were strongly polarized as a result of the game’s issues at launch, ranging from the distinctly average to the top end of some sites’ score scales. You can now buy it for direct download for just $9.95.
Still, there’s little arguing with the fact that the soundtrack is fantastic, whatever you might think of the game itself. The music is the work of one Howard Mostrom, whose previous work includes the soundtracks to Monday Night Combat, Supreme Commander 2 and, err, Super Monday Night Combat.
