Space Colony HD, a remake of a real-time strategy game from back in 2003, is now available.
For those unfamiliar with the original game, it’s a mission-based game in which you find yourself taking care of the needs of a variety of weird and wonderful individuals. Not only will you have to manage the base itself, mining minerals, harvesting resources and constructing buildings, but you’ll also have to develop relationships between the various crew members. You have the option of pursuing either a “military” or “civilian” path through the game, either battling indigenous alien lifeforms or building intergalactic golf courses — this is something of a throwback to developer Firefly Studios’ past work on the Stronghold series.
The new HD version features improved graphics and support for widescreen resolutions up to 2560×1600 for those with the hardware to handle it. It also includes 8 new official bonus campaigns and 6 user-created campaigns to challenge yourself with once you’ve finished the main game content.
