Sony’s PSN Pass initiative has been limiting online functionality to new PlayStation3 titles for a while now, the most recent of which is David Jaffe’s upcoming Twisted Metal reboot. Up until now, titles on Sony’s portable platforms were spared from this initiative. With the US launch of the new PS Vita imminent, however, it appears the reprieve is coming to an end.
Earlier today, courtesy of Joystiq and others, it has been revealed that the much-debated “feature” (that locks out online modes of certain titles until a code packaged with new copies of the game is entered) has propagated itself to the portable platform. Both Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational and Wipeout 2048 have been confirmed to come packaged with PSN Passes. Love it or loathe it, it appears the PSN Pass is here to stay.
