I have to admit that the results from the poll last week are fairly shocking. I had expected a blowout in favor of people considering Achievements/Trophies being a vital part of game design. However, while many voted yes on this, a fairly large number of gamers do not see these as a major aspect to the overall game design. I wonder how much this would change if you could cash those points in and buy stuff off the respective marketplaces.
Speaking of cashing in, as we all should know, Nintendo went ahead and announced the successor to the Wii at E3 2011. The WiiU may not have blown anyone out of the water, and in fact it left many of us with more questions than excitement. It also makes one think about what the next E3 will bring. If you listen to the EvilCast, you will already know that some of us are ready for a new Xbox and PlayStation. Sony needs a big diversion from all the hacking going down on the PSN while Microsoft could certainly use a facelift on the aging device, and new consoles would certainly fit the bill here.
So let us start our 2012 predictions slightly early. Will Microsoft and Sony try to follow Nintendo and announce new consoles? Do we need new hardware, or are current consoles enough for another few years? Vote away!
