The popular mobile game Fruit Ninja is making its way to the 360 this week as a part of the Summer of Arcade. In the mobile space, gamers have used their fingers to slash juice produce via a touch screen. As anyone will tell you, this will leave the player disappointingly stationary and calm. This is a very un-ninja like way to slice fruit.
Thank the lord Microsoft gave us the Kinect! Now we can stand in front of our TVs and utilize our ninja-like karate chopping skills to slice virtual fruit. As the Eye Toy taught us back in the PlayStation 2 era, everyone loves flailing their arms to destroy virtual items. Classic mode involves you dicing fruit while avoiding bombs for as long as possible. Arcade mode adds a timer as well as the notorious pomegranate. Zen mode removes the bombs and gives you 90 seconds to rack up as many points as possible.
But wait, there’s more! Fruit Ninja Kinect will also feature multiplayer! This is the perfect excuse to invite your mortal enemy over and “accidentally” give them a good chop to the face. Finally a game to play with the in-laws! You can choose to play cooperatively and chop everything on the screen or you can get competitive and only slice fruit tagged with your team’s colors. Either way, you and your partner will end up sweaty and probably bloody.
Finally a reason to use your Kinect! Fruit Ninja Kinect is available for a mere 10 times the cost of the mobile version and will feature paid DLC in the coming months. Or you could just go buy a smoothie.
Mmmm…. smoothies…
