We all thought that the development time for Alan Wake was ridiculous, but nothing tops and will possibly ever top what we were waiting on for Duke Nukem Forever. Apparently Hell hath indeed frozen over and the Duke has graced us all with his presence over a decade later.
I personally was not a fan of Duke Nukem back in the day (I was more of a Doom person), so I won’t be playing, but I have to say I’m not surprised that the game has been greeted with mediocre reviews. After all, Duke was from a completely different time, and we’ve already had one Dicktits: The Game this year.
However, this doesn’t mean that DNF wasn’t a true homage to what the game was like in the 80s and 90s. I witnessed the same phenomenon with the Speed Racer movie. You make a live-action movie that is true to the crappy cartoon and you aren’t going to get an Academy Award Winner. You’re going to get a movie as zany and outdated as the cartoon.
So all that said, did Duke Nukem Forever live up to your personal expectations?
