I’m browsing through the N4G threads–I know it’s a dumb idea–looking for news stories. I happened to stumble on a video of some guy going bonkers, because his opponent kicked his ass and then sent him a GG (Good Game). Now many would just take this message as a kind gesture, or the final insult, and move along. Sadly, the recipient of this message proceeds to send childish, immature, and flat-out stupid voice messages back. You can check out the video here, but know it is full of naughty language that a boss may not approve of.
I watched this video and was saddened by what some gamers have resorted to. Rage like this not only makes us look ridiculous on the community level, but you just look like a dipshit with mental issues. Seriously, what was the point of berating the guy and even threatening to kill him?
Yes, getting your ass handed to you repeatedly in a game sucks. If you do not like what is going on online, get off and find another game to play. Is it really that hard? In fact, this brings back memories of the Penny Arcade comic about anonymity and the internet. Something about this combination just turns people into adolescent dickwads.
This kind of behavior needs to end. There are those of us that would like to see gaming taken to new, better, and higher levels, but this kind of behavior only pulls us back.
