It is damn near impossible to escape all the news about the PSN being down as of late. Everything from some Capcom games not working, people griping they cannot play online, and now the identity theft debacle flood our Facebook, RSS, and Twitter streams. While all of this sucks, it has me wondering if this is changing how people feel about Sony.
Sony maybe facing a terrible PR nightmare right now, but it seems there is far too much hate being thrown in their direction. Let’s face it; we live in a world that is constantly online, and this simple fact brings up new problems and issues that we are still learning to deal with. If you think your beloved Xbox Live account is excluded from this type of malicious act, you had better start thinking again. This hacking just happened to take place on the PSN and not somewhere else….yet.
Do I think this is terrible and rather inconvenient to my gaming pastime? Yes. Do I think Sony could have handled the fact that my information was boosted differently? Yes. However, I realize I have personal information stored with Microsoft, Nintendo, Apple, Amazon, Steam, Sony, and so many more online outlets that I know this type of thievery, and down time, could happen at any time. Does it change my perception of those companies? Of course not. Do I dislike the hackers that steal this information for malicious purposes, while they cause massive outages? Damn right I do!
So what say you community? Do you now hate Sony with passion that only the raging fires of Hades could rival? Have you sold your PS3, jumped ship to Microsoft, and taken a vow to never own another Sony product as long as you live? How has this PSN fiasco changed your perception of Sony?
