Sony’s European blog dropped a bit of good news today for JRPG-starved PlayStation console owners – at least in Europe. Last year’s Japanese PS3 release White Knight Chronicles: Awakening of Light and Darkness was just announced for a May release in European territories as White Knight Chronicles II. Additionally, the PSP title White Knight Chronicles: Dogma Wars will also be released around the same time, now bearing the name White Knight Chronicles: Origins.
The announcement did not specify any details regarding North American versions of either title. Nor were any details given regarding the inclusion of the original White Knight Chronicles in White Knight Chronicles II. For the original Japanese release, a completion save from the original game was required to begin the second chapter, so the entirety of the first game (with minor updates) was included in the second chapter’s packaging. White Knight Chronicles II is a direct sequel continuing the story of series hero Leonard, picking up immediately after the cliffhanger at the end of the first game.
Despite the lack of North American release dates in today’s announcement, it is widely speculated that both White Knight Chronicles II and White Knight Chronicles: Origins will release in North America as well – most likely around the same time as in Europe.
More details to come…
