The Sony NGP has gotten under our skin (of course it has — we’re gadget whores), and we’re looking forward to playing PSP games on it as well as whatever new stuff developers and publishers can create for it. Sony would like it to be backward compatible as well, which means that the UMD format must be abandoned for good.
“Speaking in an interview with Japanese site Impress Watch, as translated by Andriasang, Sony boss Kaz Hirai explained that Sony’s new handheld device will be backwards compatible with PSP titles but only those that have been made available as downloads.”
Does this mean that we’ll finally see a downloadable version of Final Fantasy Crisis Core? That would be our dream fulfilled. Eurogamer also points out that Square Enix hasn’t released Birth by Sleep as a download, either. Could this be the time they do the downloadable dance? We hope so. Stay tuned right here for details as they emerge.
