In case you haven’t looked very far ahead into 2011, there are a ton of PS3 exclusives coming this year. Expect to see a bunch of them right here as the release of the week. The first one is LittleBigPlanet 2, the sequel to Media Molecule’s acclaimed platformer and creation game. Sackboy must once again save his world from evil by running, jumping and grabbing on to things.
Of course, creation is where LittleBigPlanet 2‘s true potential lies. In the first LittleBigPlanet, story missions showed create mode’s potential, but players took a while to catch up. This time around, top creators got to test the new tools in LittleBigPlanet 2‘s Beta. This means gamers will be treated to higher quality content from their peers right off the bat. With all that great content, Kevin Butler might be right when he says that the game will never end.
Sackbots, microchips, gameplay sequencers and other new tools will allow for some pretty complex level creation. From the Beta we have already seen everything from first person shooters to tower defense games. You can expect a flood of user generated content that will keep you busy for as long as you need. Hurray creativity!
Don’t be fooled by LittleBigPlanet 2‘s cute nature. There will be something in this game for everybody. Its a perfect game to kick off the new year. It will also be a great game to return to later in the year if you need a break from all of the other AAA games hitting your poor console this year.
