In what a business person would probably call “brand synergy,” the first major expansion to Lego Universe is set to coincide with the launch of the new Ninjago theme line with the Crux Prime update. Players will visit Crux Prime to search out Sensei Wu and protect the Nexus Tower and its beam of imagination from the ever present and antagonistic Maelstrom (I promise this is not as lame as it may sound).
While certainly having its hands in multiple pots, it’s good to see Lego Universe continuing to function and update on a somewhat regular basis. Having a brother that is pretty obsessed with the plastic bricks, I know that new product launches are a pretty regular occurrence so it stands to reason that these updates may follow the same Spring/Fall rollouts that new lines tend to adhere to. While Lego’s original IPs are great, lets hope that the game starts to add their large back catalogue of licensed properties into the fray which would allow the the game to reach it’s full potential.
While the release date is still nebulous at this point, expect Crux Prime to show up sometime in the next couple weeks. In the meantime, check out these brand new screens and trailer detailing the forthcoming update.
