For those of you who celebrated Christmas over the last two weeks (I had my own version of Four Christmases), did you get anything gaming related? Sadly, I very rarely receive anything regarding games for the holidays. Occasionally one of my closest friends will get me a game she thinks I will like, but as for my family, count them out. My sister never has a clue what is going on with gaming, and well, my parents wish I would find a different hobby. My husband rarely buys games for me either, because he thinks–and rightly so–that I have a large enough stack of games to play as it is.
But this year, this year was difference. I got a nice little bunch of gaming gifts from both friends AND family, and all of it was very unexpected.
The first came from a former Kombo-buddy and good friend, Matt Green, who sent me a gift card for 1600 Microsoft points. He said he was going to send me a card, so I was expecting an entirely different type of card. I’ve already drained that puppy on Hydrophobia and Pac-Man (not CE or CE DX, the original arcade version). The next was a similar gift, a $20 PSN gift card from another friend. I’ve only spent half of it so far–Final Fantasy IX for my PSPgo–and I have a zillion other ideas for the rest, including X-Men Arcade and DLC.
The rest of the gifts were, oddly enough, all about Professor Layton. One friend sent me Professor Layton and the Unwound Future, and then a week later, I received the same game from my mother-in-law. Great minds think alike! (My MIL included the gift receipt so I can trade it in for another game. I’m thinking Alan Wake or Fallout 3.) Then my sister utterly surprised me with Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box, which I never got around to purchasing. I think the last time I received a gaming present from my family was when I was in junior high, when my mother bought Bible Adventures for us.
So all around, I had a nice gaming Christmas. How about all of you? What did you get for Christmas?
