Gran Turismo 5 is coming out…Maybe

The continuously delayed, hyped, system selling, awe inspiring, NASCAR, Go Kart, Nurburgring having  car simulation title, Gran Turismo 5, has been given an official street date of November 24th following it’s push back from the planned November 2nd release. With copies already in the hands of fans that somehow managed to acquire retail discs, this latest date seems like a done deal at this point, but stranger things have happened.

By all accounts it seems that the delays (The last one withstanding…What could an extra 3 weeks do for the development team?) will be well worth it bringing over 1000 cars and 71 tracks to racing fans on the Playstation 3.

Polyphony Digital head Kazunori Yamauchi had this to say about the impending release and delays:

“Gran Turismo 5 is an ambitious project, with challenges and complexities which have made it our version of the Apollo Space Program… When we created the original Gran Turismo back in 1997, we wanted to set a completely new precedent for the racing genre. With the technological leap onto PlayStation 3, our objective with Gran Turismo 5 was to create another great revolution which would not only satisfy our own high expectations, but would meet or even exceed the anticipation of the fans. Satisfying the loyal Gran Turismo followers is at the heart of all of our efforts, which is why it was such a difficult decision to delay the release of the game, and one which we did not take lightly. I can only apologize to everyone for making you wait so long, and I hope that when you try out the wealth of driving experiences available in Gran Turismo 5, you will not be disappointed.”

Gamers have waited some 5 years for the next proper release in the Gran Turismo series, and, fingers crossed, should only have another 12 days to go
