Announced at Japanese developer Level-5′s Vision 2010 event, a crossover featuring characters from their own Professor Layton series and Capcom’s Phoenix Wright series is currently in the works for the 3DS. Professor Layton X Phoenix Wright is being developed by Level-5 in conjunction with Capcom, and if there were any doubts on your mind, the writing is being handled by Ace Attorney creator, Shu Takumi. Excuse me while I go and squeal with excitement.
The previously announced Layton 3DS title, Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask is still coming and is slated for release sometime in 2011. Level-5 continued with the 3DS announcements by unvieling a new RPG for the platform entitled Time Travelers.
With ‘The Another World’ coming for the original DS coupled with their newly announced plans for the 3DS, it seems as if Level-5 has their focus squarely on Nintendo and their handhelds, which honestly seems like the best way to make money for Japanese developers these days. As a huge fan of both the Professor Layton and Ace Attorney franchises I am beyond excited to play this game, and I look forward to bringing more news about this insane crossover as it is revealed.
