You Don’t Know Jack Returning Early Next Year

In the early days of CD-ROM based interactive entertainment, You Don’t Know Jack was unique for providing an experience that wasn’t reliant on full-motion video and CG sequences. Instead, it presented an excellent adult trivia experience, complete with a host which regularly poked fun at the participants. It was a game that featured a good sense of humor along with some challenging questions. In short, it was a Good Thing.

Now, THQ have revealed that the series is making a triumphant return – on January 25 2011, to be precise. The new game will be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii and DS. The 360 and PS3 versions will come complete with an online multiplayer mode, so those 360 owners jonesing for an online quiz game after the unfortunate demise of 1 vs 100 will be happy. It’s also an excellent party game that anyone can enjoy, too.

The series was known for featuring a variety of unconventional rounds with interesting, humorous and competitive objectives as well as traditional quiz-based play. It looks like this is set to continue with the new game, with series staples DisOrDat, Jack Attack, Screw Your Neighbor and Wrong Answer Of The Game all set to return.

Quiz games live or die on the strength of their questions, and whether or not there is continual support for them. Sony’s Buzz! series has enjoyed some success thanks in part to the wide variety of new question packs that are made available on a regular basis. Let’s hope You Don’t Know Jack features a similar amount of support to keep it fresh for a long time to come yet.

You Don’t Know Jack will be available for 360, PS3, Wii and DS from THQ on January 25. Just the thing for that post-Christmas lull.
