Gamers probably spending 90% of there time killing three groups of creatures: aliens, terrorists and zombies. This weeks biggest release focuses on the later of the trio. Capcom’s latest iteration of their zombie killing series is back! Unlike other games that are centered around the living dead, Dead Rising 2 doesn’t take place shortly after the apocalypse began. In fact, there is already a cure for the zombie virus and things are actually looking up!
Now that the civilized world is returning to normal, what should people do about all of the remaining zombies? Start a reality TV show, of course! Our hero Chuck Greene must participate in a reality TV show in Fortune City in order to win some Zombrex to cure his recently infected daughter and prevent her from becoming another victim of the horde. Like most reality TV shows, instead of getting canceled for having a terrible primise, things go wrong and it spreads like wildfire. The only difference is that instead of infecting the minds of teens with stupidity, the zombies break loose and infect the citizens of Fortune City.
This makes things difficult for Chuck, who must deal with the influx of zombies, find some Zombrex and defend his good name. As unfathomable as it may seem, people are blaming him for the zombie outbreak! Chuck only has 72 hours until the military comes in and captures him. This hard time limit is something that made the first game so unique. If you ever die or finish the game, you will have the option of starting the game over. When you start over, you keep your character’s progressing. The next time you start you will be that much stronger and more able to confront the horde. With loads to do and multiple endings to complete, there is quite a bit of replayability for gamers with a zombie fetish.
Some of the progress you carry over is in the form of combo cards. Finding these cards allows you to combine various weapons into super zombie killing tools. Adding an chainsaw to an oar or throwing two by fours on a lawnmower, for example. These weapons will last longer than others, and will be extremely satisfying. Beyond killing zombies, you will need to rescue survivors and deal with psychopaths. All while protecting your daughter. Like I said, there is a lot to do here! Dead Rising 2 is a must buy for zombie fans everywhere.
