Zen Studios announced yesterday that its XBLA download Pinball FX 2 will be free to all Xbox Live Arcade users when it goes live on October 13th. Free you say? Yes, that’s right… almost. The team announced that the core game of Pinball FX 2 will be a free platform download that provides access to the entire Pinball FX 2 library of content. Gamers will be allowed to demo every table before purchasing those tables for their game.
Fans and purchasers of the original Pinball FX aren’t going to be ignored either. In a move that will please their devoted followers, Zen Studios also announced that anyone who purchased the original Pinball FX game can simply import their content into the new platform and their existing tables will get a free graphic and physics update. What’s more is a new set of Achievements gets unlocked for the game so people chasing those illusive gamerscores can up their bragging rights even further.
People who have not purchased the original can still access the classic tables such as Speed Machine, Extreme Agents and Buccaneer from within the Pinball FX 2 platform for 800 space bucks. Additionally, the original DLC tables consisting of Nightmare Mansion, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Street Figher II Tribute Table and Earth Defense can be had for a mere 240 Microsoft Points each.
The core collection of Pinball FX 2 will consist of Pasha, Rome, Biolab and Secrets of the Deep which can be purchased for a scant 800 MS points. With this new model in place, gamers can try out then pick and choose which tables they’d like to import into their game giving them an unprecedented amount of flexibility in their purchasing options.
In Secrets of the Deep, players will be able to explore the depths of the sea and uncover a mysterious and beautiful world filled with strange creatures and ancient artifacts.
Pinball FX 2 is launching October 13th as part of the Game Feast presented by Microsoft.
