Capcom and Ninja Theory team up for DmC – TGS

Throw away everything you know about the Devil May Cry series and await the rebirth of Dante and his iconic gun/sword gameplay. Capcom in collaboration with Ninja Theory announced today at the Tokyo Game Show that a reboot was in order for the vaulted Devil May Cry series. Details remain scant on the character choice, but the name remains the same. Looking at the character model, it appears to be a younger Dante or perhaps just an alternate Dante for the retelling.

DmC, as it’s being called, is being developed for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles. The team says that many aspects of the game will change, while fan favorites such as the gun and sword battle system will remain. Ninja Theory states they will keep the stylistic way in which the Devil May Cry series has been presented and the new Dante will be the same brash and brazen protagonist we’re all used to seeing.

A representative from the show had this to say about the game, “Set against a contemporary backdrop, DmC will depict a duplicitous world where nothing is ever as it seems and the line between good and evil is constantly blurred. Spurred into action by the promises of a trusted relation, Dante bursts into this world intent on revenge at any cost. DmCwill retain the series’ signature mix of sword and gunplay but add additional weapons, all new powers and a revitalised gameplay system as players encounter the game’s devilish mix of enemies and navigate the rich, interactive environment.
