Atlus Gets The Dirty Breakup Treatment

It is with heavy heart that we report this bit of news. The parent company over Atlus has deemed it necessary to dissolve the stellar publisher. Index Holdings, those that own Atlus, have decided it will be best to bring the game division into their direct control. Atlus as a brand name will continue to live on, but the current operating structure is no more.

Index Holdings is dissolving the company as a way to boost their profitability. They are doing this by bringing in the core moneymaking areas into their house. It also needs to be noted that Index Holdings has been responsible for making business decisions for Atlus for quite some time now.

What this means as of now is there are no mention of what properties will survive this dissolution. The recently announced Catherine game on the PS3/360 is supposedly staying with the current development team. There has been no other announcement for any other teams, however.

Atlus is the main reason we saw great games hit the PSP, PS3, DS, Wii, and 360. Without “the little publisher that could“, we would not have Persona on the PSP, nor would we have the frustration what is Demon’s Souls (yes, I realize that Atlus was the publisher and not the developer).  They were even behind the great times that were 3D Dot Game Heroes. Just look at their impressive game roster and you’ll see just how many awesome games Atlus was a part of. What will come of Trine 2?

This announcement really comes with no warning. We here at Games Are Evil wish all those caught in the storm the best of luck in your future endeavors. Thanks for supporting us and providing us with the best PR emails of any company around.
