This week’s biggest game is the sequel to that game that came bundled with the Halo 3 beta. If you played the original Crackdown, then you can expect more of the same. You take control of a super cop working for “the agency”. Its like Just Cause 2 except instead of a grappling hook and tropical island, you have a super suit in an embattled metropolis.
While there isn’t much of a story here, this is a great game for those who enjoy exploring open worlds. There are collectible orbs scattered about Pacific City, just begging to be collected. There are hidden orbs, orbs placed on top of sky scrappers, and even orbs that have a habit of running away from you. Hurray for collectibles!
There are two types of enemies in Crackdown 2. There are humans that are battling the government and then a horde of zombie like “freaks” that come out at night and attack. Nothing like rebelling against the government during a zombie uprising. You, as a super cop, must battle both groups so that you can unlock achievement points. I’m sure there is another explanation, but who honestly cares.
Sadly, Crackdown 2 doesn’t look like its progressed much in the three years since the original game hit the 360. There are some visual enhancements and there is some new cooperative additions. You can play the campaign with up to 3 of your friends online, but only the host will keep any progression made. Even so, if you are a fan of the genre or enjoyed the first Crackdown then there is still a lot of fun to have here.
