Everyone’s favorite large nosed Italian plumber is back, here to save a galaxy full of evil shelled baddies. As excited as I am for ModNation Racers on the PS3, its hard to pick against a big Mario game. Especially when Luigi and Yoshi are there to help.
I’m not going to waste much time talking about Super Mario Galaxy 2′s story because its nothing new. Big angry Bowser has stolen Princess for whatever reason and Mario needs to go collect some stars so that he can get her back. I don’t know why Bowser doesn’t give it a rest or why Mario doesn’t start seeing someone else, but I guess everyone needs a hobby.
What makes Mario games special is its platforming, which is back and better then ever. There are more power ups, more variety, and more coins to collect. The game should be easy for new-comers and yet offers some challenge for seasoned veterans. No matter your experience level, if you own a Wii then this is a must buy.
While I am generally not a fan of Wii games, Super Mario Galaxy 2 remembers what it means to be a game. Hardcore shooters and time draining MMOs all have their appeal, but games are supposed to be all about having fun. There is plenty of fun to be had in Mario’s latest adventure. Put down that game that makes you want to throw your controller, dust off that Wii that is hiding in the corner and have some fun. Unlike most releases, Super Mario Galaxy 2 hit store shelves on Sunday, so go pick it up today!
