Hey geeky gamers and gameristas! Time for another Lexi’s List. My birthday is on Thursday (26 years old…eek!) so this week, I’m focusing on geeky birthday-themed noms! From converted cake-toppers to cupcakes, it is here and it is YUMMY!
Talk about epic…this creation of cakery was made by Jet City Cakes. Paul Quinn, an apprentice of sorts to Duff Goldman (Of TLC’s Ace of Cakes), decided to open his own bakery and create cakes full of creativity and flair. Prices start at $350. Someone’s Dad must have had a very happy birthday!
Although not edible, these little ninja rings look like cake toppers!

These ninja rings created by DesignImight are made of resin, resting atop a ring base covered in Japanese characters. They are available on Etsy in a variety of colors including purple, blue, orange, and red. Some come with nun-chucks, others with swords, all primed and ready to defeat some dastardly pirates. But as her Etsy page clearly states, ninjas don’t do dishes, so definitely don’t wear these and put them in water.
Third on the list…gamer cupcakes!
To celebrate the new year, Steelhead Studio has a game-themed party every year. The owner, Robin Dahlberg, decided to celebrate her house’s 100 year birthday with 100 cupcakes. Every cupcake on this list is inspired by a game, some easier to identify than others. The one above is based on one of the oldest of all games, Pong. Click on the photo above to see the whole list.
Lastly, the most epic gamer cake I have ever seen…Super Mario Kart Cake
It may not be a birthday cake, but it is just too amazing not to mention. What words can describe something so epic? The attention to detail is absolutely amazing, so much so that I wouldn’t want to even eat it. The cake is inspired partially by Super Mario Galaxy (hence the castle on top of the planet) and part by Super Mario Kart (check out Rainbow Road!) Every part of this Chocolate Decadence Cake (black chocolate cake filled with bittersweet chocolate ganache, chocolate buttercream and chocolate mousse) is 100% edible. The stained glass window and Rainbow Road were made from the same hard candy used to create lollipops. Created by Beth from Let Them Eat Cake in Costa Mesa, California. Click here to visit the Flickr page dedicated to the cake to see even more amazing photos.
That’s it for now! Hope you all have a wonderful Monday and super awesome week! See you next Monday!
