Nier Coming to Home Consoles in April

Square-Enix announced today that their new Action-RPG series, Nier, is set to debut on both the Xbox 360 and PS3 on April 23rd across all territories. Nier puts players in control of the aptly named Nier as he sets out to find the cure to a disease that has infected his daughter. It’s safe to say that by the end of the game, you’ll have accumulated a motley crew of adventurers to help you to your final goal.

While some gamers might think it’s weird for Square-Enix to release an RPG so closely to the March 9th release of Final Fantasy XIII, but the reasons become apparent when you release who is developing the title. Cavia, the studio handling Nier’s development, isn’t quite a studio lauded for it’s quality games — Bullet Witch was the last title they released — so it remains to be seen whether Nier will be any good. Hopefully Square-Enix has been a little more hands on for the development and has been able to steer it in the right direction to finish with a quality game.
