Can it really be referred to as a “round up” when there’s only one game? While I ponder that, you should check out Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond. Fans of Contra will fall in insta-love with the fast paced side scrolling action this game offers up. You can play alone, or with a friend… but only if that friend is in the room with you. That’s right, no online multiplayer. If you can see past that though, this game has a great sense of humor, and solid gameplay. You play as Matt Hazard, a washed-up video game star trying to get back on top, taking whatever role he’s offered. The game constantly pokes fun of itself, and the video game industry as a whole. If a quirky sense of humor, and solid action are worth 1200 Microsoft Points to you, then Matt Hazard: Blood Bath and Beyond is worth your time. If the lack of online multiplayer is a deal breaker for you, you may want to look elsewhere for you side scrolling action fix.
