At the beginning of last year there was this screenshot of Peyj and Jade trying to fix their hovercraft at the side of a deserted highway. This put me into a delirium as I thought that Ubisoft were bringing one of their most under-celebrated franchises to next-gen hardware.
Then the bubble burst. They announced that the screenshot (inset) was just a bit of concept art and there were no plans to make Beyond Good and Evil 2.
Things change…
According to Gamepro’s translation of Ubisoft France’s Geoffroy Sardin’s comments to French website GameKult both Beyond Good and evil 2 and the long-awaited disaster game I Am Alive are both still in development.
There are two possible translations for what Sardin said. Either the positive: “Yes, they are still in development,” or with an exasperated inflection: “Oh, those two are always in development — they may never come out.”
Ubisoft PR later confirmed the former to be the case.
I am sure you will all join me in hoping that this is their final answer.
