GOG (Good Old Games), the classic PC video game download service, announced earlier today that a partnership had been formed with Activision to bring some of their titles to the service. Some of the newly available games for download include the classic Sierra titles ‘Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura’ and ‘Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers.’ Both are available for the reasonable price of $5.99.
For those not familiar with either title, Arcanum is an isometric open-world RPG in the vein of the original Fallout games, and created by the now defunct Troika games. The Gabriel Knight series was what many see as the best adventure series ever created; Placing players in the shoes of Gabriel Knight, they investigate a string of murders in search for new material to write about.
Now that the largest video game publisher has signed up to bring their back catalogue to GOG.com, it’ll be interesting to see what Activision finds worthy of re-release on the DRM free service. Accompanying the first two titles, GOG will be releasing a number of other games from Activision over the coming weeks.
