XBLA Roundup: Polar Panic and 0 Day Attack On Earth

This week Polar Panic, and 0 Day Attack on Earth are spreading holiday cheer on the XBLM. Gamers can either help a polar bear murder some trappers with large blocks of ice, or thwart an alien invasion with some friends – tough choice!

Polar Panic puts you in the role of an intrepid polar bear as he attempts to save his friends and family from trappers, as well as avoid capture himself. The polar bear must make his way through each level by manipulating various types of blocks to clear a path, and defeat the trappers that threaten his freedom. In addition to the story mode, you can take on puzzle mode, and survival mode. Puzzle mode challenges you to reach the exit in as few moves as possible, with each destroyed or moved block counting as a move. Survival mode pits you against wave after wave of trappers that are hell bent on wearing your sweet polar bear hide. The variety of gameplay modes makes Polar Panic worth checking out for action-puzzle game fans. It’s available now for 800 Microsoft Points.

The other XBLA release this week comes in the form of 0 Day Attack on Earth, a two-stick shooter from Square Enix. You and up to three friends can take on the alien invaders in various cities around the world. If saving the world loses it’s appeal, you can also dive into a multiplayer match of capture the flag, or point capture. Fans of the two-stick shooter genre looking for a rich multiplayer experience will want to check this game out. It’s available now for 1200 Microsoft Points.
