Every once and a while, the pieces of a puzzle seem to come together in a way that could only be described as much more than just a simple coincidence. In this case we investigated 1up.com’s claim of the potential announcement of a new Star Wars game at the Spike Video Game Awards on Saturday, December 12th:
Of course, we have no idea yet what the game will be, but a few educated guesses come to mind… Battlefront 3 may have still survived in some capacity and moved on to another developer. Another possibility is the a successor to The Force Unleashed; the game was a financial success, and LucasArts probably doesn’t want to have all that work on the physics engine go to waste on just one game. Or, of course, it could be something else entirely… — 1up.com
Though it seemed feasible that we might be seeing a new Force Unleashed or Battlefront sequel, the VGA’s seemed like far too big of a spectacle to simply announce a sequel. Deep down in my gut it seemed that this venue would be better served for the folks over at Lucasarts to launch a new IP in the Star Wars Universe.
Here is where the odd coincidences come in. Earlier today thelostgamer.com reported stumbling across a new Star Wars game entitled Star Wars Legends, which had recently cleared classification for release by the Austrailian Certification Board. The proposed title has received a “Mature” rating and is supposed be a multiplatform release, published by Activision Blizzard. The visual proof is shown below:
So has the Austrailian Ratings Board once again outed a game before its big reveal? I would be willing to bet the farm that at some point this coming Saturday, we will be hearing the official announcement of Star Wars Legends coming to a console near you, very soon. The facts never lie, and things certainly seem to be falling into place.
What do you think and more importantly, what do you think the game is going to cover?
