dragon-age-origins-11Nestled in between hits like Uncharted 2, Borderlands, Modern Warfare 2 and Left 4 Dead 2, it is quite possible that you’ve missed hearing about Dragon Age: Origins. Even if you haven’t heard of it, you’ve probably heard of games such as the instant classics Baldur’s Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Mass Effect. These games all come from the RPG masters at BioWare, and Dragon Age: Origins is their next epic tale.

One thing that sets Dragon Age apart from other RPGs is that your race and class effect far more than how you play your character. The first few hours of the game will take place based on one of 6 “Origin Stories”.  These series of quests will help explain how the character got to where they were when the rest of the campaign started. This is an interesting idea that should provide good replay value, not that many people are going to play through a full length RPG numerous times.

Even if you don’t want to play it multiple times, a large amount of DLC should keep the game engaging once the main story is complete. RPG fans should be drooling over this game. While a little more of a niche title then other games coming out this week, Dragon Age is a solid entry for those who aren’t after one of the half dozen shooters or action games coming out. If you’re on a budget, there is a lot of game here. If you enjoy RPGs at all, this is a must buy.
