Splatterhouse update for PSN and Arcade

Jason.  Freddy.  Rick.  Okay, so maybe that last name isn’t quite as synonymous with horror as the first two, but he’s just as bad-ass.

Waaaay back in the last millenium, when home computing required your own substation, an extension on your house and cooling system better than the Arctic tundra, arcades ruled gaming.  Video was king, DVD was the stuff of sci-fi, and schlocky horror films were the enemy of all things Jack Thompson.  Then along came Namco with a game called Splatterhouse.

 Splatterhouse: it's gory

Splatterhouse saw Rick as the blood-soaked hero off to rescue his teen dream girl.  Transformed by a mystical hockey mask (no, really), Rick waded through hordes of monsters, hacking them limb from limb and causing nationwide outrage amongst ignorant moral guardians.  It was quite a big deal.

If you haven’t got a scooby what I’m banging on about, and the 80s are ye olden dayes, fear not – an update of this retro classic hack-em-up is about to arrive as console DLC.  Available on PSN and Live Arcade next year, you can revel in the horror yourself soon enough.  Just look at those clothes!  Gasp!
