A while back, I had the pleasure and pain of putting one of these invisible shield plastic films on my iPhone. Lucky me, I just got one for the PSP Go. I’ve learned a few things since the iPhone incident, and I’ve got to say, this stuff rocks. I’m giving away the point of this whole article – I’m in love with clear plastic products for my sleek little pocket gadgets. Err… That came out kind of wrong. Bygones.
First off, as I learned last time, USE A LOT OF SPRAY STUFF. Spray your fingers, the plastic, the shield, and don’t worry if some gets on your PSP. Honest, it’ll be ok. If you don’t use enough spray stuff, you’ll be plagued like the billions fo people who try to align the square screen protectors on their favorite device. – you’ll fail horribly. With a liberal amount of spray, the Invisible Shield will slide around on the PSP Go, and allow you to place it with precision. This is key for a product who’s claim to fame is the precision die cut plastic. Yes, it’s pretty darn perfect, and fits like, well, a glove fits worse than this thing. As you can see in the pictures below, all the flat spaces are covered with some plastic film, which is really very thick and heavy-duty.
The fit is fantastic, and if you’ve listened to me above, you’ll see it slide into place with nary a fuss. The bubbles slide out with the included heavy duty squeegee, and a towel soaks up the extra fluid. The pictures above are actually from the day of application. It looks even better now, after a week. Even the shoulder buttons and the flat space next to the headphone jack get a little bit of Shield love, with tiny little die cut plastic films to put there. So fun! The shields are both glare and slip resistant, so it feels just that more secure in my hands or on a desk or car dash. The only downsides I can see are the little bit of added thickness (prevents you using a standard Go case from Sony when you need that little bit of extra protection) and the non-slip nature of the plastic film can keep the device from sliding into a pocket as easily as without. Neither issue is a deal breaker, and this Invisible Shield is staying on my PSP Go for as long as it lasts. Which will be a long time, if Zagg honors the lifetime guarantee on their website: if it ever tears or scratches wile protecting your device, the will replace it, free of charge. Nice!
The bottom line? These invisible shields are my go to device protection. They offer scratch and fingerprint resistance, and really keep teh glare down, thanks to their pebbled surface. I like to see my device (as well as have it be seen, if I have to be honest, and that doesn’t happen in a big fat case. This gives me the ability to slide the PSP into my pocket without worrying aboutthe keys or coins or other detritus in there, and carry it with me more places. If it won’t fit in my picket, it probably won’t go with me. These days, my PSP Go is with me more often, thanks to the Invisible Shield.
