Spore Hero coming to Wii

No, it’s not a music rhythm game. EA announced today that they would be bringing the Spore franchise to the Nintendo Wii. Spore Hero, as it is titled, will focus on the player-created-character as it journeys to “save it’s planet from destruction.” Battling other creatures and solving puzzles throughout the world will be a big part in the game, and doing such will unlock new parts for you to customize your character even further. Interaction with the world, as well as battling, will be controlled by waggling around the Wiimote, and EA claims that the game packs in over 250 unlockable pieces to upgrade your character with (that a LOT of waggling). Spore Hero also contains a Versus mode, in which players can challenge their friends to a battle to the death using their customized characters. Unfortunately, the game will not utilize the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, therefore the chance of being able to import other players’ creatures is slim to none.

An impressive aspect of Spore Hero is the Creature Creator itself. Being the Wii, you would expect the quality to take a hit from the original PC version, however the creature creator seems just as robust and excellent as it was there. Simply pick a part with your Wiimote, place it on the creature where you want it, and there you go. It handles exactly like a computer mouse would. Spore Hero will be released on October 6th, 2009 in North America, and October 9th, 2009 internationally.
