Nintendo Weekly: Download Update

Nintendo has finally decided that after seeming to abandon the Virtual Console, that they needed to come back in a BIG way.  To compliment a fantastic NES and arcade release will be an interesting new take on fighting games and a rare titillating title hitting the WiiWare service.  Might this be a rare winning week for fanboys everywhere?  Take a look below to find out:

WiiWare

OverturnOVERTURN - Robots, bombs and explosions… need I really say anymore?  With those three words all describing components of the game, it practically sells itself!  Anyone who is familiar with the BattleBots television series that ran on Comedy Central from 2000-2002 will understand exactly what this game is all about.

Probably the best part about the game is that it sheds the need to only use mechanical weapons, allowing the robots to add firearms into the mix.  If that wasn’t enough to sway you, maybe the inclusion of optional Balance board controls might win you over.  With up to four players available to battle at any time, it is sure to be an intense showdown.  Overturn blasts its way onto the WiiWare service for 800 Wii Points ($8.00 USD).

Here is what the mayhem looks like firsthand:

SexyPokerSexy Poker – In what seems to be another interesting WiiWare trend, for the third week running, a card game makes an appearance on the service.  However, this week’s poker game is catering to a decidedly more mature gaming audience.  Despite the fact that this strip poker simulation has already been banned in Australia, Nintendo has decided to release the game stateside.

This is a very interesting turn for the otherwise tame Nintendo of America, especially considering that the title was said to have been encouraging acts that would not otherwise be legal for minors.  So for those who have been feeling a little bit lonely as of late, it looks like you will finally get the chance to get your WiiWank on… LITERALLY!  If you so chose, this should be available to download for 500 Wii Points ($5.00 USD).

If you really need another reason to buy this game, check out the video below (be patient, it was the best video I could find!):

Virtual Console

TecmoBowlTECMO BOWL -Originally released in North American arcades in 1987, Tecmo Bowl was the Japanese developer’s first attempt at bringing the decidedly American sport of football into the digital era.  After porting the game to the NES in 1989, little did they know what a lasting effect that the franchise would have over an entire generation of gamers.

Without the endorsement of the NFL, Temco Bowl featured a bare bones roster of twelve teams that were meant to directly mirror professional teams, while not making it blatant enough to be sued. This was a just a mere foreshadowing of the massive success that the Madden franchise would become on the consoles, but it was all that was necessary to cement the support of the NFL for later installments.  You will be able to snag this arcade classic for 600 Wii Points ($6.00 USD).

Just in case you have forgotten what this looked like in arcades, here is a pleasant reminder:

Please excuse me for a moment, while I geek the hell out. Tecmo Bowl is one of the games that made me into the gamer that I am today.  Every other release this week could be garbage and I would still be exstatic with the lineup.  Are there any games that would make you feel the same way?
