Finnish game developer Frozenbyte has dropped this announcement for the release of their puzzling action platformer, Trine. This game has drawn comparisons from the beloved classic Blizzard game, Lost Vikings.

Trine™ is a fantasy action / platform game where the player can create and use physics-based objects to beat hazardous puzzles and threatening enemies. Three heroes are bound to a mysterious device called the Trine in a quest to save the kingdom from evil and the player can at any time freely choose whoever is best suited for the upcoming challenge or puzzle.

On top of that, the co-operative mode (with a drop in/out feature) where up to 3 players can play simultaneously on the same machine, allows them to combine their character’s powers to create whole new solutions to the game’s challenges.

The demo is from the final version of the game. It contains the tutorial and the first level of Trine where you can play with all 3 characters and experience their unique gameplay features.

After trying the demo on Steam, my interest in this title was piqued. The well performed voiceovers and charming music reminded me of Fable, while the gameplay seems definitely inspired by Lost Vikings but with more of an action edge to it. I may have to invest some of my hard-earned dollars in this little gem from Frozenbyte. Trine will be released on the PS3 in the near future and rumors of a XBL Arcade version published by Atlus are stirring.

The true arcade-unit father never stepped forward. This spurred Jace on his quest to play as many video games as possible to learn the identity of his father. His ongoing journey continues to this day.
