Raven Squad Screenshots Emerge

During E3 2009, I had a chance to play Raven Squad on Xbox 360. A mixture of a first person shooter and a third person real time strategy, Raven Squad was a strange combination for the first ten minutes of playtime. Something really clicked when I started thinking of the RTS strategy that was necessary to pass areas and complete specific mission requirements. Once I had my teammates rally at a specific point, I would switch to FPS and take down any enemies in the area.

The combination of the FPS and RTS systems worked well in the version of the game I played, though I think that my team AI was actually smarter than I was. The best part of Raven Squad it that it didn’t force me to play both RTS and FPS. Gamers can choose to play the entire game in either perspective, but using both system equals the best possibility of completing the mission objectives.

Taking cues from the 1980s cheese war action movies like Commando, Predator, and Missing in Action; expect your allies to spout horribly good one-liners, watch huge explosions, and experience general action movies chaos. Raven Squad is releasing for Xbox 360 and PC.

Check out the screens below.
