Remember when the Wii came out? Cast your mind back, and remember the amount of people that threatened (or indeed launched) lawsuits against Nintendo for the cost of repairing/replacing their TVs. The strap that snapped became a problem for Nintendo, and they released two fixes; one was of course the thicker strap, and another was a Wiimote Rubber Casing (commonly referred to as the Wii-dom). And now CTA Digital has decided to come along, and undo all that good work. How?

The Wii Bowling Ball.
Now I’m all for plastic Wii add-ons; I have a Venom Light Blaster for Ghost Squad, House of the Dead and such. But a bowling ball is just asking for trouble. We’ve all seen hilarious videos of TVs being smashed by Wiimotes, and thankfully CTA have taken measures to stop this. Not only have they made a thick strap for it, but they also renounce themselves from any damage caused while using the Wii Bowling Ball.
Warning Before using this product, please review Nintendo’s safety recommendations. CTA Digital, Inc. will NOT be liable for any damage to your TV, home appliances, and/or accidents caused by these accessories.
CTA DIGITAL, INC IS NOT AND WILL NOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGES RESULTING FROM THE BOWLING BALL ATTACHMENT
And yet, it sounds like they haven’t minimized the risk. The Bowling Ball is described as an “ultra-realistic accessory”, which makes me think whether or not they really mean this. I know they’ve mentioned three holes for your fingers, but have they weighed it to make it feel more realistic?
This is a lawsuit waiting to happen if those straps don’t hold up.
