One of the first experiences I had with the next gen systems was with my father in a Best Buy. Fight Night Round 3 was set up on a 360 so my father and I had a go. After playing a couple of rounds, my father beat me to a bloody pulp, several times in spectacular fashion. After that, I bought a PS3 and stopped playing boxing games.
Still, Fight Night really showed off what the system could do. Sweat, swelling, and sucker punches never looked so good. This week the series is back for a fourth round. The graphics are sharper, the controls have been overhauled, and an all new legacy mode is in place. Boxing never looked so good. Well, except for maybe in Cinderella Man on Blu-ray…
Boxing games aren’t really my cup of tea. The next time I will play a “boxing” simulator will be when I drop the gloves in NHL10. Still, if you are into boxing games, then this is the pinnacle of the genre. You can pick it up Tuesday and have your father knocking your face inside-out in no time.
