Spore Evolves for the Nintendo Wii and DS

Maxis, the Electronic Arts studio has announced details about Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena, two titles coming to the Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS this fall. Originally for the PC and Mac platforms, Spore gives players the ability to create life, which evolves into tribes and civilizations. Players are able to customize almost every aspect of the Spore universe.

“When Maxis first considered bringing Spore to console players, the Nintendo platforms jumped out as a perfect fit. Whether it is the stylus-driven action of the Nintendo DS or playful controllers of the Wii, the massive Nintendo audience is the ideal home for Spore Hero and Spore Hero Arena,” said Lucy Bradshaw, VP and General Manager at Maxis.

Spore Hero combines the creative freedom of Spore with a story-driven action-adventure, designed specifically for the Wii. Spore Hero takes full advantage of the Wii controls to engage players in puzzles, missions and intense battles. Players will collect over 250 parts throughout the game to use in the Spore Creature Creator for total kick ass customization of their hero, giving it a fighting chance to save the world from dark forces of destruction.

DScreatorSpore Hero Arena builds on the success of Spore Creatures for the DS, originally released in September of 2008. Players will create a hero creature and travel the solar system battling enemies and completing missions. Beating a planet’s local champion will win the hero unique and beneficial abilities. These specially combined abilities will give the hero a chance to save the galaxy. Spore Hero Arena will include a multiplayer mode where players can battle up to three friends locally or over Wi-Fi.

Bradshaw predicts, “Nintendo fans will love the humor, ability to create their own Hero, fun gameplay and immersive storylines we’re creating for these two games.”
