Too many times have people lost good TVs to their battle with the Wii. Maybe consumers are starting to take notice, and shifting towards another brand?
As reported on Tech.Yahoo, Sony Corp’s PlayStation 3 has outsold the Nintendo Wii in March for the first time in 16 months in Japan. A game magazine publisher (not stated who) has stated, “hot new PS3 titles from Sega, Sammy and Capcom,” were the reason for the recent rise in sales for Sony’s big black box.
Domestic sales of the PS3 hit a high of 146,948 units in the five weeks of March, while the Wii only managed to reach 99,335 units. The Xbox on the other hand, only managed to muster up 43,172 units. While everyone knows the Xbox isn’t a fan favorite in Japan, those numbers are still pretty bad.
Mizuho Investors Securities analyst Etsuko Tamura said that despite its strong showing in March, the PS3 is unlikely to threaten the Wii’s global dominance as more software makers are focusing on development resources on the Wii. Looks like Sony has their work cut out for them, as Nintendo’s Wii has the largest user base among the current generation of consoles.
