Release of the Week: Cryostasis: The Sleep of Reason (PC)

cryostasiscSpring is in the air! The sun is finally coming up after a long winter. Baseball season has started, the birds are out and an overall good feeling is being had by all! So what better way to celebrate Spring then with yet another survival horror game! Perfect for spring, Cryostasis takes place up at the north pole, full of snow, ice and killer mutated zombie thingies.

Cryostasis has some interesting mechanics that set it a part from other games in the increasingly saturated survival horror market. One of the most notable additions is that the player must pay attention to how cold they are getting. You will need to find warm places and increase your body heat if you want to survive. I am not entirely sure where you find pockets of heat on a giant ship that is frozen up at the north pole, but then again I am not sure were you find zombies, either.

Another strange element is that the main character is a meteorologist who somehow has the ability to possess people, travel back in time and change their past. Good thing too, because this is the only way to solve the mystery aboard the ship. It seems Scooby-Doo wouldn’t have stood a chance.

Cyrostasis: The Sleep of Reason looks to be an interesting game. If you are a big fan of the genre and want to see some new tricks, then this game is for you. It comes with a relatively small price tag as well, with Gamestop shipping it for $30. If you aren’t a fan of the genre, I suggest you go see a Baseball game instead and enjoy Spring.
