Upcoming Hits: Games a la carte

Over the last week, a few big name games have been either debuted, had new media released, or been discussed in depth across the interwebs. Here are a few of my favorites:

Batman: Arkham Asylum

Some new footage explaining the “invisible predator” gameplay, where Batman uses his ingenuity, environment and expensive toys/weapons to defeat a variety of guards. The parts I liked most? First of all, the guards don’t have a pre-defined patrol path where they walk, so the game will be different each time you play. Another pretty cool feature is the variety of different attacks.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Speaking of a variety of different attacks, some footage of X-Men Origins: Wolverine was also dropped, showcasing some amazing different attack elements that the developers at Raven have been working on. If that wasn’t enough, add the fact that it’s Wolverine (arguably the best of the X-Men universe), everything that makes him unique (healing properties, Adamantium claws, cocky attitude), and this is going to (hopefully) be a movie/comic book video game that doesn’t actually suck!

WiiSpray

wiisprayThough not necessarily a game in the traditional sense, it’s got Wii features at the heart – specifically the Wiimote. Martin Lihs’s idea turned master thesis has been shown off again, this time has a video in action and not so much a prototype. Basically, this gives artsy types an avenue to do their graffiti without having to worry about handcuffs and boys in blue.
