At one time or another we have all wished we were king of the world. On April 24th, Rising Star Games is giving us that opportunity. In Little King’s Story we are introduced to a wide variety of characters including Corobo Bred, a shy boy who becomes the King of Alpoko. He is named king after stumbling upon a powerful crown during a walk through the forest. Corobo is aided by Howser, your right-hand man, while still setting up missions, handling power-ups and dealing with town administration.
There is also a cavalry of supporting cast, including Liam, your Anything Minister, who is responsible for tutorials and tips, Verde, who acts as Records Minister, meaning your save point, and Princess Apricot, who is there to try and marry you and take all your money. As the King, you’re in a quest to charm followers and transform a small town into a formidable kingdom.
Little King’s Story is a combination of real-time strategy, life simulation, adventure gaming, and “majestically charming RPG”. The look of the game is similar to that of a fairytale story book. It is cute yet detailed, something you would expect from the people who brought Harvest Moon, Final Fantasy XII and Dragon Quest VIII to the Wii. This mesh of art and skill will intrigue both casual and core gamers. Music used in trailers and gameplay previews for Little King’s Story has been recognizable as classical creations with a new twist.
As the King you manage and involve townspeople, changing their jobs and your tactics to dig for treasure, build, demolish obstacles and fight the many bosses or Uma. Townspeople can be farmers, soldiers, carpenters or just carefree adults, living out their days under your rule. Once you’ve made your entourage, you have the ability to travel to the other seven kingdoms to see the seven wonders. Unite the lands of Gluttonia, where the fat people are, Jolly, the land of happiness, and Overreach, etc. Little King’s Story morphs the Wii Remote into your royal scepter and gives you the power to rule the world.
How do you plan to rule your kingdom?
