Ever wonder what it would be like to play GameCube games with Wii controls? Well wonder no more. Nintendo has begun its release of old fan favorites from the GameCube in their “New Play Control!” series. Starting tomorrow March 6th, fans of Mario Power Tennis will have a whole new way to play their beloved games using their Wii skills. Pikmin lovers however, will have to wait until June of 2009.
Real Time Strategy (RTS) fans will enjoy the ability to use the WiiRemote to point and click all of their Pikmin into place, as players take control of Captain Olimar. For those of you who have yet to experience the world of Pikmin, you have crash landed and must employ the help of Pikmin to gather all 30 sections of your downed ship.
Mario Sports fans on the other hand will have a nice treat with Mario Power Tennis. The biggest advancement is the ability to use the WiiRemote to play a wide range of different shots, from overhand strikes to backhands, and of course the famous Power Shots which are different for each character. Fans of Wii Sports Tennis should get a kick out of this one and tennis fans alike will finally get the love they deserve.
Though I’m not a fan of cheap ports, but the fact that Nintendo has gone and revamped each of the games with new controls, and the fact that both of these games would be awesome with the WiiRemote, I have to say that these are a must buy for fans.
