As always, we are back for another rundown of a week’s worth of Wii downloadables. This week we will see another single showcase of retro Commodore 64 gaming, along with one downloadable WiiWare title. If you enjoy running, jumping and throwing your way to gold, the Commodore 64 offering should leave you pleased, as long as high definition is not a high priority. Speaking of non-high def, the WiiWare release will leave you looking for your specs, because it looks like it is straight off of the Atari, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Here is the complete breakdown:

BIT.TRIP BEAT – If you were a big fan of such classics as Amplitude or Rez, then you should give this game a serious look. Imagine attempting to design a dynamically created rhythm game for the Atari. Sound like a stretch? The result is a hyper fast rhythm game that on the surface resembles pong, but on closer observation offers so much more.
Bringing high paced action and pinpoint accuracy to the Nintendo WiiWare, BIT.TRIP BEAT should have something for everyone, while still offering the challenge you crave. If you are interested, you will be able to pick this up for a reasonable 600 Nintendo Points ($6.00).

Summer Games II – In another throwback to the days of the Commodore 64, this is your chance to live your Olympic dream, circa 1985. Though the game was never an officially licensed Olympic product, it was one of the first games of its kind, featuring the ability to chose what country you were from and numerous different events to participate.
In total, there were 8 different mini-games to test your multiplayer skills, in activities ranging from rowing to cycling and everything else in between. This lost gem will be available for 500 Nintendo Points ($5.00).

So what do you think of this week’s offerings? I am waiting for another megaton release, but in the meantime, these should do well to tide me over. Enjoy!
