Activision was kind enough to release a three part mini-video documentary that focuses on the making of Guitar Hero Metallica. Covering the bands involvement with the game, how they feel Guitar Hero is helping them reach new audiences, as well as a behind the scenes look at the motion capture and facial scanning process.
“My favorite part of the day was running around acting like a nutty twelve year old on stage.” -Lars Ulrich
Though the process looks long and strenuous, the band had a lot of fun with it. I actually found it very surprising how down to earth they really are. It’s good to see they still enjoy being in the band, that means us Metallica fans should have plenty to look forward to in the future.
“For me growing up, music was my savior, it was my therapy, it was my voice speaking for me.” -James Hetfield
I love the fact that Metallica embraces Guitar Hero as a way, even for them, to learn (or re-learn in their case) many of their current and older songs. The “time line” that James Hetfield speaks about briefly must be an awesome sight now that Guitar Hero has put much of that into perspective. Newer fans of Metallica will also get a taste for their roots, allowing fans to see the progression Metallica has had over the years.
“This game is enabling people to step into my stage shoes and be able to experience playing with the band.” – Kirk Hammett
Jumping on stage with any rock star will always be a dream for fans of music, and Guitar Hero has taken every player one step closer to that dream. This time fulfilling the dreams of Metallica fans everywhere and making an awesome game.
