Japan’s Weekly Famitsu Magazine has revealed some tantalising details regarding downloadable content for the ‘fourth’ installment to the legendary fighter series.
Alternative costumes for each of the game’s 25 characters will be available in separate content packs. Each pack, priced at JPY (yen) 400 (USD 4.46 / GBP 3.09) on Playstation 3 and 320 MS points on Xbox 360, will contain one extra costume for five characters. One pack will be made available each week, starting with the Japanese launch on Feb 13. Once all five packs have been released a bumper pack is set to be launched containing all 25 costumes for JPY 1,200 (USD 13.39 / GBP 9.26) and 1,200 MS points on PS3 and 360 respectively.
Famitsu Magazine also revealed that Capcom have plans to update the game, via a free game update, to include a ‘Championship Mode’. This will reportedly allow players to compete in online tournament matches, with the most successful competitors having their match replays saved and uploaded to the game servers for all to admire.
Specific details on when – or if – any of this content will be available in the US and EU territories has yet to be confirmed, but we’d anticipate some form of official announcement from Capcom soon.
